Tree trimming that keeps the tree

Crown thinning, roof and driveway clearance, deadwood removal and storm-prep pruning for live oaks, pines and shade trees — cut correctly, so the tree stays healthy.

Tree trimming & pruning

Good pruning is mostly about what you don’t cut.

A properly pruned tree is stronger in a storm, healthier long-term and looks better. A badly pruned one — topped, lion-tailed or stripped — becomes a hazard you’ll be paying to remove later.

We trim to arborist standards: clean cuts at the branch collar, weight reduced from the ends of long limbs, deadwood removed, and clearance created without destroying the shape of the tree. On the Northshore that mostly means live oaks, water oaks, pines, magnolias and pecans over roofs, driveways and yards.

Why we use an aerial lift for pruning

Our tracked spider lift puts a trimmer exactly where the cut needs to be, high in the canopy, without climbing spikes or a heavy bucket truck on your lawn. It’s safer for the crew and easier on the tree and the yard.

When to prune

Deadwood and hazards can be handled any time. For most structural pruning, late fall through winter is ideal, and early summer is the right time to get storm-prep work done before peak hurricane season. In cities like Mandeville, work on protected trees should be recommended and supervised by a licensed arborist — which we are.

Storm prep

Thin it before the wind does.

Dense crowns act like sails. Thinning a canopy and reducing heavy end-weight on long limbs lets wind pass through instead of tearing limbs out. Book storm-prep pruning in late spring or early summer — before the schedule fills up.

Tree Trimming FAQ

Questions, answered.

How much does tree trimming cost?

It depends on the number and size of trees, how much work each needs and access. We provide free written quotes after a quick on-site look.

Do you top trees?

We don’t recommend topping. It causes weak, fast-growing regrowth and decay. When a tree needs to be smaller, we do proper crown reduction instead.

When is the best time to trim trees in Louisiana?

Late fall through winter is ideal for most structural pruning. Deadwood and hazards can be removed any time, and storm-prep thinning is best done before peak hurricane season.

Can you trim branches touching my roof?

Yes. Roof, gutter and siding clearance is one of our most common jobs, and we’ll make the cuts in a way that keeps the tree balanced.

Do you trim live oaks?

Yes. Live oaks get crown thinning, structural pruning, end-weight reduction and deadwood removal by a Louisiana licensed arborist.
